Why the firm exists

Why Kayani Law Firm Was Founded

Founder Junaid Kayani envisioned a small, welcoming office where affordable legal help would remain within reach of the community. From a client’s first meeting to the final resolution of the file, the same lawyer would stay by their side. By offering support across several areas of law, the firm would also spare clients the frustration of having to start their story all over again somewhere else halfway through.

Mississauga was the natural place to bring that vision to life. Here, a family might first walk through the firm’s doors for help purchasing a home, setting up their corporation, establishing Business and return years later with a sponsorship application, and eventually seek guidance in preparing a will, often preferring to speak in a language other than English. Rather than sending them from one to the other office, the firm could remain a familiar and trusted place through each new chapter. That same connection continues today, as our family law, real estate, corporate commercial services, acquisition of businesses, corporate mergers and immigration work regularly intersect from one week to the next.

What is different here

What Working With Us Is Like

You deal with the person handling your file

Unlike the experience at many larger firms, clients here work directly with the lawyer they meet at their initial consultation. That continuity means every call is answered by someone familiar with the matter, every concern is understood in context, and questions about a file’s progress can be addressed promptly rather than passed through a queue.

Clients who have previously worked with larger firms often recognize this difference immediately. The personal attention, direct communication, and consistent involvement of their lawyer are not only what distinguish the experience, but also what clients value most and frequently cite as the reason they return.

More than one area of Law.

When several firms are involved, important details can be lost in the handover, causing unnecessary delays, duplication, and expense.

For example, a separation involving the matrimonial home may require both family law advice and a transfer of title. The purchase or sale of a business may involve corporate structuring, due diligence, the negotiation of a share or asset purchase agreement, financing, commercial leasing, and the closing of related real estate transactions. An immigration refusal may require both advice on the underlying application and an application for judicial review before the Federal Court. Similarly, the death of a family member who owned a company may call for coordinated estate administration, corporate reorganization, business succession, and property-related work.

We manage these interconnected matters in-house through one coordinated legal team that already understands the client, the history, and the objectives of the file. This integrated approach reduces duplication, supports consistent advice, and avoids the inefficiency of several firms exchanging information and working in isolation.

Before any work begins, we confirm the scope of the engagement and the retainer in writing. When a matter is best handled in stages, we define each stage separately, giving clients a clear opportunity to assess the costs, benefits, and proportionality of proceeding before committing to the next step.

Five languages

Legal Services in Five Languages

In a diverse community such as Mississauga, providing legal services in a client’s preferred language is more than a convenience; it is essential to clear communication and informed decision-making. Whether signing a separation agreement, swearing an affidavit, or receiving advice about a will, clients should be able to understand and discuss important legal matters directly, without relying on an adult child, relative, or neighbour to interpret sensitive information.

Direct communication is especially important in personal and emotionally sensitive matters. A client discussing family circumstances may be less candid when a relative is present to translate. Taking instructions in the client’s own language helps the lawyer understand the complete context, maintain confidentiality, and provide advice based on the full picture rather than only the details the client felt comfortable sharing through someone else.

We provide legal services in English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and Farsi.
